Attention Parents of 8th – 12th Grade Students: Admissions to Mater Dei Academy for the 2020-2021 academic year are open from now until May 10th.

Mater Dei Academy, formerly known as Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God Academy (or simply BVM Academy) is located in Warners, New York, ten miles west of Syracuse and wedged between the beautiful Finger Lakes Region and the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. It is conveniently within driving distance of St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary and many major cities: Washington D.C., New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal.

Operated by the Society of Saint Pius X and celebrating over twenty-five years of providing a traditional Catholic education, Mater Dei offers a rigorous K-12 curriculum of classes for both boys and girls (though they are educated separately after 6th grade). Of particular note, the Academy boasts of competitive high school-level Math, Science, and Language Arts programs.

Mater Dei offers its students the opportunity for close collaboration with priests and teachers both in and out of the classroom. With over 50 dedicated teachers and staff members, a current K-12 enrollment of 118 students, and a 6:1 high school student-to-teacher ratio, Mater Dei is able to provide a quality, well-rounded, and affordable Catholic education and formation.

Its historic school building, with a capacity for more than 300 students, rests on a rural 40-acre campus that is also home to the local SSPX chapel and a priory with four resident priests. This unique arrangement provides many opportunities for the students to assist at liturgical ceremonies throughout the year and to participate in parish events and activities, in addition to those provided by the Academy.

The school competes as a full-fledged member of the National Federation of High Schools in four major boys sports: soccer, basketball, cross country, and baseball. Students are also able to participate in chess and drama clubs, along with a host of other activities.

Of the Academy’s 225 alumni, many have received scholarships and awards and the greater majority have pursued a higher education at two-year or four-year colleges and universities.  A good number have pursued and completed graduate programs and many of its graduates are not only successful professionals, but also upstanding Traditional Catholic adults, parents, and citizens.  Three SSPX priests, an SSPX sister, a Benedictine monk, and nine current SSPX seminarians have all passed through the Academy’s doors; many other alumni have tried their vocation as well.

For 8th-12th grade boys, Mater Dei Academy offers on-campus boarding facilities with space for over fifty young men. Though the school is currently unable to provide a boarding home for young women, out-of-town high school girls are able to board with local families and attend the Academy.
