Worldwide Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to Rome: August, 2025
Fr. John Fullerton, US District Superior for the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), invites faithful Catholics to join the SSPX in its worldwide pilgrimage to Rome for the Jubilee Year.
"May our presence here in Rome be an occasion for us to strengthen our faith..."
Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (in Rome, for the 1975 Holy Year)
Dear Friends,
As you know, we recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of Archbishop Lefebvre's historic 1974 Declaration. Next year, however, marks another 50th anniversary: the Holy Year Pilgrimage made by Archbishop Lefebvre and the then-fledgling Society of St. Pius X for the Jubilee Year of 1975. These jubilees, which the Catholic Church has formally celebrated regularly since 1300 when the plague ravaged the Holy City, have ordinarily been celebrated every 25 years.
As we did in 1975 and 2000, the Society is organizing a worldwide pilgrimage to Eternal Rome on August 20, 2025, with a public Mass and a procession to the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, the oldest and "Mother and Head of all churches in Rome." I will be leading a longer pilgrimage from the U.S. District for this occasion, between August 16 and 23, and visiting all seven pilgrim churches designated by St. Philip Neri, along with other religious sites.
I hope you will join us next August, a genuine once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most. To make your interest known and for additional details, please email my team at [email protected], who will make sure you are updated regularly. As a different kind of plague currently ravages Holy Mother Church, this pilgrimage allows us to renew our loyalty to "Catholic Rome, Guardian of the Catholic Faith and of the traditions necessary to preserve this faith, to Eternal Rome, Mistress of wisdom and truth." Further, a plenary indulgence can be obtained during the Jubilee by passing through the Holy Doors of the four major basilicas of Rome, along with the usual conditions of confession, reception of Holy Communion, and prayers for the Holy Father.
I hope you will join me in Rome for this important pilgrimage, for the restoration of all things in Christ.
In the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts,
Fr. John Fullerton
