A poetic plea of Cor Jesu Sacratissimum

Source: District of the USA

Jesus Christ pleads in this poem to be allowed to love mankind through His Sacred Heart which has suffered so much for our salvation.

This poetic work demonstrates what Christ bore in His Sacred Heart for the love of men—and all He asks in return is that we love and serve Him by subjugating our own hearts to His holy will.

"Put me as a seal upon thy heart." (Canticles 8:6)  "My son, give me thy heart." (Proverbs 23:26)

Cor Jesu Sacratissimum

I place thee within

My Sacred Heart,

My Loving Flame,

torn apart

pierced by the lance,

upon the Cross

for love of thee,

I suffered loss

I bore the blame;

I wore the shame—

pain,

derision,

ignominies—

for love of thee,

My Sacred Heart,

My Loving Flame,

torn apart

My life for thee,

I did give,

that thou would live

thy life for Me

My Sacred Heart,

My Loving Flame

torn apart

blasphemies,

outrages,

indifferences;

disobedience,

sacrilege,

concupiscence;

profanities …

these …

the scourges

that lacerated

My Holy Flesh;

the thorns thrust into

My precious skull;

the nails that pierced

My hands and feet;

the spear that lanced

My Sacred Heart;

for thee,

I bore them all

My Sorrows

to annul

thine infinite penalty

Just one thing,

I ask of thee …

that thou would give

thy heart to Me (Proverbs 23:26),

as I did give My Heart

for thee

My Sacred Heart,

My Loving Flame

emblazoned with

thy precious name

O Jesus,

meek and humble of heart,

make our hearts like unto Thine
