The USA District's Fatima Apostolate begins today with the Pilgrim statue traveling to its first destination in Kansas City, MO.
Today—March 25th, Feast of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary—the SSPX's USA District begins what will ultimately be a 3-year tour of its Fatima Pilgrim statue. This specially-commissioned statue of Our Lady of Fatima will travel in a custom-made carrying trailer throughout the United States, visiting our chapels, associated religious communities and other places.
This Fatima Apostolate has been long in the making, having been first conceived by the former District Superior, Fr. Arnaud Rostand. The purpose of this apostolate is to make better known the message and requests of Our Lady of Fatima and thus encourage greater devotion to her Immaculate Heart, particularly through the Holy Rosary and the First Five Saturdays.
In connection with this important work of the SSPX's USA District, we have compiled a Fatima Apostolate resources page which offers a variety of materials about Fatima (Apparitions, Children of Fatima, and Three Secrets), the devotion of the Five First Saturdays, and forthcoming statue visits.
Also available via this resource page (which will be updated with further materials and news), is a printable novena card and booklet for the Votive Mass of the Immaculate Heart of Mary—you can even listen to the Gregorian chant propers of the votive Mass.
If you would like to unite yourself more closely with the SSPX's Fatima Apostolate, you can submit prayer intentions or join our Mass Association—you can also help offset the various costs of this important apostolic work, by making a direct donation to the apostolate.
The United States District's Fatima Apostolate officially began this morning (Wednesday, March 25) when the traveling statue of Our Lady of Fatima was crowned at the Regina Coeli House. The Pilgrim Virgin statue will later today be placed into its special trailer [see the video for those handling the statue], and driven to St. Vincent de Paul Church in Kansas City, Missouri, where in the evening, it will be carried in a rosary procession.
After the outdoor rosary procession, the Pilgrim statue will be placed in the specially-decorated Lady Chapel in St. Vincent's Church, then a Solemn Mass for the Feast of the Annunciation will be offered, another beautiful tribute in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Pilgrim statue will remain in the Lady Chapel for several days to allow for the parish's veneration. Before continuing to its next destination, the Pilgrim statue will be given a special farewell by the clergy and faithful at St. Vincent's.
We will be offering further news and information about this exciting district-wide apostolate of the Society of St. Pius X, so stay tuned!
May this Fatima Apostolate stir the hearts and minds of Catholics everywhere to a greater devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. And through the prayers and Masses offered in connection with this effort, we pray that it may help to effect the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary over hearts and nations!
