Ad multos annos to the SSPX's priests who just celebrated their 25th priestly anniversary!
On Wednesday, May 13th, the Vigil of the Ascension of Our Lord, St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Winona, MN hosted a Silver Jubilee celebration for priests of the seminary and the United States District.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the priestly ordination of two priests from the seminary, Fr. Yves le Roux (rector) and Fr. Kenneth Dean (novice master) and another two from the district, Fr. Todd Angele and Fr. Thomas Scott.
In the morning, Fr. Dean celebrated a Solemn Mass assisted by Fr. Scott as deacon and Fr. Kevin Robinson as subdeacon. Bishop Bernard Fellay, the SSPX's Superior General, graced the occasion with his presence and preached at the Mass. A dozen priests of the U.S. District, including the superior, Fr. Jurgen Wegner, were able to attend the ceremonies before leaving to be present at their own chapels on Ascension Day. Among the attendees were also a number of Fr. Dean’s relatives.
After a festive lunch held in the seminary’s refectory, some of the musically-inclined seminarians treated everyone to a entertainment program, the last of whose pieces was a 12th century mystery play about the Resurrection of Our Lord. The special day concluded with Pontifical Vespers and then Compline.
In his sermon Bishop Fellay evoked notably a passage from the 115th Psalm: "Quid retribuam Domino… What shall I give to the Lord for all that He has given me?" For more than all other men, priests must recognize God’s manifold blessings and the unrequitable debt which is theirs.
We thank St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary for its kind hospitality and may Our Lord be praised for allowing men to participate in his holy priesthood.
Ad multos annos…
