LaSalette Boys' Academy in Georgetown, IL, will advance to its first state championship in rugby, following Thursday's win.
On Thursday, May 25, LaSalette Academy's Rugby team heavily defeated Brother Rice High School in Chicago 57-24 in the State semi-finals. This is no insignificant win, as the SSPX boys' academy will compete for its first time in an Illinois State Championship game vs Neuqua High School Monday, May 29, in Chicago.
This gallery shows the resliency of the LaSalette boys against a much bigger, and on paper, much better opposing team.
The match was attended by His Excellency, Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, who blessed the boys before the game, and stayed to celebrate the victory.
Rugby is gaining popularity among various boys' schools in the SSPX, following a growing nationwide trend in this exciting sport.
