More than 50 Confirmations were performed by Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais in a church filled with history for the Society of St. Pius X
On April 30, 2016 at Queen of Angels in Dickinson, Texas, 52 souls were confirmed and a Solemn Pontifical Mass at the Throne was offered.
The forecast of 4-6 inches of rain did not materialize. Instead, it rained briefly during Mass, then the beautiful Texas sunshine appeared!
The bishop gave a beautiful sermon on the Gifts of the Holy Ghost being like sails blowing the ship of our souls into the harbor of eternal salvation. Then he spoke of St. Damien of Molokai and his zeal for souls as an example of the gift of fortitude in action.
Queen of Angels was dedicated by Archbishop Lefebvre on July 12, 1977. It was the district Headquarters of the U.S. from 1983-1988 and the Angelus Press was located there 1977-1991. The last confirmations were given also by Bishop Tissier in February 2014. In 2015 there were 15 Baptisms and 4 weddings. The average Sunday Mass attendance is 340.
Dickinson is located 25 miles south of the city of Houston and 20 miles from the Galveston, Texas Gulf Coast. It is one of the SSPX priories where 5 priests (Fr. Frank Kurtz, Prior) and 2 brothers reside. From here, the priests serve another chapel located in North Houston (St. Michael's) with a Sunday Mass attendance of 125, as well as the chapels in Carthage, TX, Corpus Christi, TX, Baton Rouge, LA and Kenner, LA (New Orleans).
