50th Anniversary Celebration of SSPX in Michigan

December 16, 2023
Livonia, MI

A group of faithful Catholics in the Detroit area, known as Committee of Concerned Catholics, sought help of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in the early 1970s. These tradition-minded Catholics wanted to preserve the Catholic Faith from the errors of liberalism which had been invading the Church since Vatican II.

In the Fall of 1972, Archbishop Lefebvre took this group under his wing and in July 1973, sent Fr. Anthony Ward to serve as their pastor. In November of the same year, the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) established its first American seminary and, the following summer, purchased a brick farmhouse on three acres of land in Armada, Michigan to host it.

St Anne’s Church is happy to announce the celebration of this momentous occasion. You are encouraged to join in the festivities on Saturday, December 16, 2023, in Livonia, MI.

Sign up for the 50th Anniversary Event Celebration at stannes-church.com no later than November 30, 2023. Those that are not able to be present to celebrate with us are asked to send up prayers of thanksgiving for the half-century of graces that God has showered upon the SSPX in southeast Michigan and throughout the United States.
