The District Superior

Fr. Jurgen Wegner is the District Superior of the Societ of St. Pius X's United States of America District.

Fr. Jurgen Wegner was born in the Black Forest in the Southwest corner of Germany. He studied in the SSPX's seminaries of Zaitzkofen, Germany and Econe, Switzerland. Ordained in 1991, he spent time in the Netherlands and then 6 years at St. John School in Germany. He has been District Superior of Belgium and the Netherlands. After a 6-year term as District Superior in Canada, he was named District Superior of the United States in 2014. Fr. Wegner resides at the Regina Coeli House.


The District Superior is appointed for a 6-year term. He is responsible to the Superior General for the pastoral, spiritual, and temporal administration of his district and the good order of its communities according to the statutes and spirit of the Society. The District Superior also oversees the foundation of new priories, missions and religious houses. In relation to the formation of priests and religious, he prepares the necessary files of aspirants and consigns them to the superiors of the houses of formation, such as the seminary rector or novice master.
