Fatima Poetry Contest Winners Announced

December 07, 2017
Snapshots of the first-place submissions. The full text of the poems is below.

Along with the Art submissions, Poems were submitted for the opportunity to win prizes. Below are the winners, their prizes, and the full text of the beautiful poems.

As with the Art Contest, families throughout the District joined the celebration in the form of their childrens' poetry. Each student submitted an original poem - with one of the titles of Our Lady from the litany - for an opportunity to gain a prize.

The first prize is a beautiful wooden and painted statue of Our Lady of Fatima; second prize, a wall plaque of the Immaculate Heart of Mary printed on wood; and for the honorable mention nominees, an exquisite indulgenced Rosary with glass beads (blessed by a bishop)

The submissions were viewed and judged anonymously, and the winners notified a few days before the celebration in Walton, KY on December 8th.

Almost 200 original poems were submitted, and more than 400 pieces of art.  The devotion showed by the youth of our schools and chapels was overwheming and beautiful!

All those who contributed their work in honor of Our Blessed Mother are to be commended.
