Youth Pilgrimage reports |
|
 |
Days
8-9:
If there
was any doubt in the youths’ minds that a pilgrimage requires
pushing through adversity, this years’ 3-day walk would remove
those doubts altogether. Nothing but rain, mud and cold were
our companions for the march from Chartres to Paris...

Prayers
needed for future of health care
Once upon a time,
health care was all about healing. It was driven by compassion,
faith, and science that combined to meet patients' emotional,
spiritual, and physical needs. Hospitals frequently were
governed by clergy who focused on mission, not margin...

Fr.
Dominique Lagneau in 2010 |
In memoriam...
It is with great sadness that
the SSPX’s General House announces the sudden death of
Fr. Dominique Lagneau, superior of the Contemplative
House Montgardin, occurred Sunday, May 12 at 5:30pm.
Apparently he died of a heart attack while he prayed at
the Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Laus. |
|
Of French nationality, he was
ordained at Econe on June 29, 1981 by Archbishop Marcel
Lefebvre, founder of the SSPX. Stationed first in Unieux,
he became the prior a year later and was successively
appointed professor at the seminaries of Econe and
Flavigny. Then he was then rector of the La Reja
seminary in Argentina for 13 years, followed as the
prior at Dijon, France, a collaborator at Meylan and
Gastines and finally the prior for the contemplative
house of Montgardin since its opening in 2011. He was
also chaplain of the Militia of Mary which he ran with a
zeal and communicative enthusiasm.
His funeral will be held on
Friday, May 17 in the Franciscan church at Cours
Ladoucette.** It will be presided by Bishop Fellay, the
SSPX’s Superior General. Fr. Lagneau’s wake will be held
in the in the chapel of the Notre Dame House and buried
in the house’s cemetery. **SSPX.org
has just learned that the local ordinary of the Gap
Diocese, Bishop Jean-Michel Di Falco, visited and prayed
before Fr. Lagneau 's body. Noticing the smallness of
the Franciscan chapel, he offered and authorized the use
of the parish church of Cordeliers in Gap for the
Requiem Mass that Bishop Fellay will offer on May 17th. |

Plainchant is for every Catholic, not just the elite
The 1908
Graduale Romanum became so popular that it soon became the
only textus receptus of Gregorian chant - and it was
certainly not elitist since on the contrary, it allowed any
average singer to master the liturgical year's repertoire of
chant in about 2 years, whereas in the Middle Ages, it took a
monk about 10 years...

difficulties encountered in this pursuit...

An
open answer to Bishop Williamson by Fr. Laisney
"The same accusations are sometimes made against the Protocol of May 5, 1988, which had been prepared by the future Bishop Tissier de Mallerais and signed by Archbishop Lefebvre. Would you accuse these two the way you accused Bishop Fellay? Certainly not!..."
